Pepsi North America Cup REVISED advance odds; Somebeachsomewhere undefeated heading into eliminations

Dali won the first division of the Burlington Stakes in a stellar 1.50.3 and propelled himself into 2nd favourite going into the Pepsi North America Cup eliminations next Saturday, June 7th. The unbeaten Somebeachsomewhere coasted to a 151.3 over Santanna Blue Chip in the 2nd field, while Keystone Horatio passed Deuce Seelster and Lonestar Legend to win the final leg in 151.4.

Here are my pre-elimination race odds for the Pepsi North America Cup harness horse standardbred major stakes race, REVISED June 6th, though all 3 top contenders (unchanged) are in separate divisions, so that bodes well for them making the final:

1. Somebeachsomewhere 8-5

2. Dali 2-1

3. Santanna Blue Chip 4-1

4. Badlands Nitro 5-1

5. Keystone Horatio 9-1

6. Art Official 12-1

7. Deuce Seelster 18-1

8. Sand Shooter 18-1

9. Idle Hour 18-1

10. On The Brink 20-1

11. Stonebridge Magnum 20-1

12. Share The Delight 20-1

13. Lonestar Legend 20-1

14. Lennon Blue Chip 25-1

15. Trade Editor 30-1

16. Mucho Sleazy 30-1

17. Rudy Rednose 30-1

These guesstimated advance odds are posted 25 hours before the Saturday elimination races begin. After reviewing the results and the post positions fpr the final, I will post Afternoon-line odds for the 2008 Pepsi North America Cup final.

Unbeaten Somebeachsomewhere Sensational in 7th Straight Win; Pepsi NA Cup ahead

May 31/2008 - The Maritime-owned Somebeachsomewhere won his division of the Burlington Stakes tonight at Mohawk Raceway in commanding fashion. Driver Paul Macdonell had the son of Mach Three off to a leisurely start, settling into the 4th position after watching 2nd favorite Santanna Blue Chip scream to the lead from the 10 hole.

Beach was first-over on the backstretch and reached the lead before the turn for home. Somebeachsomewhere was never really challenged and is now undefeated in seven lifetime starts. Santanna Blue Chip and Jody Jamieson held on for second as Luc Oulette, having a big night with 3 winners in the first 4 races, guided On The Brink to a third place finish. All of the top 3 are eligible for the Pepsi North America Cup on June 14th, with the NA Cup eliminations on June 7th.
